RH Paris, The Gallery on the Champs-Élysées, with Foundry and Sean O’Connor Lighting
RH Paris, The Gallery on the Champs-Élysées, applies a layered lighting scheme across seven levels, highlighting furniture and artwork while setting the mood in its restaurants and bar.
The project
RH Paris, The Gallery on the Champs-Élysées, sits just off Avenue Montaigne and spans seven levels linked by a tall atrium of backlit floating staircases and uplit cast medallion balustrades. Guests enter through six-metre doors into the RH design library, a collection of rare books presented in warm light against timber, with one of the first modern prints of Vitruvius's De Architectura at its centre.
The lighting strategy is clean and layered, reinforcing the architecture while directing the eye to furniture and artwork, with feature RH pendants arranged around the atrium. In Le Jardin RH, a glass and steel restaurant by Foster & Partners inspired by the Grand Palais, uplights set behind the banquettes and magnetic spotlights overhead give the steel frame a warm, candle-like glow, joined by jewel-like table lights, a white onyx bar and planting.
The World of RH Bar & Lounge combines physical and digital elements to present the places and spaces behind the brand. On the top two floors, Le Petit RH pairs champagne lacquered walls with a luminous ceiling of more than 7,000 handblown polyhedrons. Each table is pinspotted from concealed overhead sources, and tuneable white light is built into the wine fridges and hidden behind mirrors and artwork.

The category

Feature RH pendants around the atrium and a scheme that steers attention to furniture and artwork tie the lighting directly to the RH product offer.
Warm light on the library's timber at the entrance and candle-warm uplights and spotlights in Le Jardin RH give each space its own atmosphere.
Layered lighting picks out the floating staircases and balustrades while balancing ambience with practical illumination, and concealed sources pinspot each table in Le Petit RH.
