M&S Cribbs Causeway, with we.are.sdi
A modular shop-in-shop for beers, wines, spirits and impulse lines at M&S Cribbs Causeway, built to work harder commercially without disturbing the store's calm, premium look.
The project
M&S set out to make Beers, Wines and Spirits a destination within its Cribbs Causeway food and drink store, without disrupting the calm, premium look the brand is known for. The wider brief called for a suite of modular, commercially focused shop-in-shop zones that would improve visibility and product discovery, basket building, category clarity and customer flow, with the flexibility to adapt across store formats and seasons.
The project was delivered end to end by we.are.sdi, from strategy and design through technical development, prototyping, manufacture and installation. Analysis of shopper movement identified natural pause points, and fixtures were placed to work with them. Dense product displays are offset by clean storytelling, clear sightlines and reassuring cues on value and volume, so shoppers can scan, compare and pick up items without visual clutter. Because the kit is modular, store teams can rearrange, theme and cross-merchandise the zones with little effort, supporting a possible wider rollout.
The fixtures were built to be durable and easy to replenish, and installation caused minimal disruption. The entrant reports a higher average transaction value through stronger curation, alongside clearer navigation and greater customer confidence.

The category
The Shop-in-Shop or Concession category recognises shop-in-shop concepts and concessions that represent their brand clearly while complementing the host store.
