The Ordinary Unlocked Shoreditch, with StudioXAG
A three-day Shoreditch pop-up that led visitors from beauty-industry confusion to scientific clarity through live formulation demonstrations, skin testing and a sensory product room.
The project
The Ordinary asked for a three-day pop-up in Shoreditch that would attract high footfall and explain the science behind its latest launch. The concept drew on a line from the brand's manifesto: "The truth should be ordinary." This shaped the visit as a route from confusion to clarity. A 10 metre billboard graphic wrapped the building's frontage, before guests passed through a dark briefing tunnel where brand ambassadors unpicked common beauty myths.
The tunnel opened into The O. Lab, a bright space at the heart of the event. Visitors used hydration microscopes, had their skin tested and received product advice based on the results, while scientists from Toronto demonstrated formulation live. Stainless steel fixtures, light boxes, magnifiers and oversized ingredient graphics made the science tangible. A mirrored room for the new Rice Lipids serum used projected water reflections, haze, sound and illuminated spheres around a central plinth, and a molecule grabber game, skincare masterclasses and free coffee rounded off the journey.
Over three days the pop-up welcomed 2,200 visitors, after more than 20,000 Eventbrite page views before opening. The entry reports a total reach of 15.2 million, a 44% rise in brand visibility on the previous month, 11,770 pieces of user-generated content and 74.6% positive brand sentiment.

The pop-up drew 2,200 visitors over three days, reached 15.2 million and generated 11,770 pieces of user-generated content, with brand visibility up 44% month on month.
